Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Carbon Credits between Sri Lanka and Singapore

- Article 6 of the Paris Agreement has provided the countries with the opportunity to cooperate for the purpose of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in a more cost‑effective manner under the International carbon trading. Accordingly, it has been proposed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Carbon Credits between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Singapore within the framework referred to in the Paris Agreement. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Environment to sign the said MoU, was approved by the Cabinet.
