Taking steps to name “Kompanna Veediya” Grama Niladhari Division of Colombo Divisional Secretariat Division in the same manner in all three languages

- “Kompanna Veediya” Grama Niladhari Division of Colombo Divisional Secretariat Division has been declared as "කොම්පඤ්ඤ වීදිය" in Sinhala, "ஸ்லேவ்ஐலன்ட்" in Tamil and "Slave Island" in English. It has been suggested that it would be more appropriate to name the Grama Niladhari Division as “Kompanna Veediya” in all three languages. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government to declare “Kompanna Veediya” as it is in all three languages through a fresh Gazette Notification revising the respective Gazette Extraordinary notification No.743/5 dated 1992‑12‑01, was approved by the Cabinet.
