Implementation of Western Region Megapolis Master Plan 2048 in Sri Lanka

- The approval has been granted at the Cabinet meeting held on 2023-05-08 to award the review of the Western Region Megapolis Master Plan prepared by the Urban Development Authority in 2015 to M/s Surbana Jurong (Pvt) Ltd in Singapore. Accordingly, the said plan will be reviewed and the "Western Region Megapolis Master Plan - 2048" will be prepared enabling to implement projects that have been identified so far under the original Master Plan, on priority basis. The joint proposal made by Hon. President; Hon. Prime Minister; and the Minister of Urban Development and Housing to appoint a Ministerial Committee under the chairmanship of the Hon. Prime Minister to provide necessary guidance and coordinate the facilities to implement the said plan prepared as such, was approved by the Cabinet.
