Declaration of National Industry Day

- Necessary Plans have been prepared to increase the contribution of the industrial sector to the Gross Domestic Product which is 28% at present, up to 30% and to increase the contribution of the manufacturing industry to the Gross National Product which is 15% at present, up to 25%, by the year 2030. Further, it is expected to increase the percentage of entrepreneurs up to 10% which is currently 2.8% and to increase the contribution of micro, small and medium-scale industries to the Gross National Product from 52% to 70% , by the year 2030. In order to meet the said goals, 06 industry sectors have been identified and the Ministry of Industries has taken action to ensure a unified approach to provide the infrastructure and other facilities required for the said sectors. Accordingly, taking into consideration the proposal made by the Minister of Industries, the Cabinet granted approval to conduct an Industry Exhibition Week annually in order to encourage and uplift the promotion of domestic industries and attract foreign investors and industrialists and to conduct the said Exhibition from 22nd to 25th June of this year as the initial step of the same.
