Introducing Paying Ward Facilities in Government Hospitals

- The proposal made by the Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies through the budget for the year 2023 pertaining to the expansion of paying ward facilities in the Government hospitals islandwide, was moved in Parliament. At present, the National Health Insurance Trust Fund has provided health insurance coverage (Agrahara) for Government employees and pensioners and a significant number of some citizens are covered by other health insurance schemes. There are some citizens who are willing to pay personally for extra facilities available within the Government health care system. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Health to take necessary action to provide paying ward facilities for Sri Lankan Citizens as well as foreigners in Government hospitals, was approved by the Cabinet.
