Memorandum of Understanding between the Australian Border Force and Sri Lanka Customs in the Field of Mutual Assistance on Customs Matters

- A compromise has been reached to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Sri Lanka Customs and the Australian Border Force with a view to creating assistance between the two parties pertaining to Customs Operations. Accordingly, the objectives of the proposed Memorandum of Understanding are to strengthen, promote and develop cooperation and mutual assistance on customs matters, subject to the laws, regulations, procedures and policies which are in force in each country. Clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the draft Memorandum of Understanding. As such, the proposal made by the Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies, to sign the said Memorandum of Understanding was approved by the Cabinet.
