Paddy Purchasing Programme of the Government for the Maha Season 2022/23

- The Cabinet at its meeting held on 2023‑01‑16 has granted approval to provide 10kg of rice per month for a family covering 2 million low income families for a period of 2 months. It has been identified that in addition to the aforesaid two million families, there are approximately 850,000 families in the waiting list and the said number of families would be appropriate to include in the proposed programme. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. President to provide 10kg of rice per month for 2.85 million families for a period of two months by including the aforesaid 850,000 low income families as well into this programme and to increase budgetary provisions of Rs 10 billion currently approved for this up to Rs 13 billion, was approved by the Cabinet.
