Mediation Special Categories of Disputes (Qualifications of Mediators) Regulations No.1 of 2023
- Provisions have been made through the Regulation published in the Gazette Extraordinary Notification dated 2021‑12‑21 by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms under the provisions of the Mediation (Special Categories of Disputes) Act, No. 21 of 2003, in order to operate special Mediation Boards in 06 administrative districts to settle financial disputes arising from financial business transactions. Further, powers to prescribe the qualifications of individuals to be appointed to such a Monetary Board have been vested with the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms as per section 4(2) of the Mediation (Special Categories of Disputes) Act, No. 21 of 2003. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms to submit the Mediation Special Categories of Disputes (Qualifications of Mediators) Regulations No. 1 of 2023 promulgated through the Gazette Extraordinary Notification No. 2314/80 dated 2023‑01‑14 to Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
