Holding the State Vesak Festival of the year 2023

- It has been planned to hold the State Vesak Festival of 2023 (Sri Buddha Year 2567) at Kebellewala Sri Rathanasiri Pirivena Temple, Madampe, Chillaw in Puttlam District jointly by the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government; Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs and the Department of Buddhist Affairs, with the recommendations of the Most Venerable Mahamayake Theros of Tri‑Nikaya and the Samastha Lanka Sasanarakshaka Mandalaya. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs to declare from 2023‑05‑02 to 2023‑05‑08 as the Vesak Week and simultaneously carry out different religious and social programmes, was approved by the Cabinet.
