Incorporation of Sri Lanka Institute of Agriculture

- It is essential to take an integrated approach pertaining to various sectors such as food crops, plantation crops, exports agricultural crops, horticultural crops, animal husbandry, environment and forest conservation for the agricultural development in Sri Lanka and for what it has been observed that it is appropriate to establish a structure to make agriculture experts highly skilled on relevant subjects serving in different institutions for technological capacity building. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Agriculture to incorporate Sri Lanka Institute of Agriculture which holds the membership of more than 1000 agricultural professionals at present, ensuring the quality of service and ethics of the agricultural professionals enabling to acquire their service widely, efficiently and effectively and to instruct the Legal Draftsman to draft a Bill, was approved by the Cabinet.
