To obtain the approval for the establishment of Quality Assurance and Accreditation Commission

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted on 2019‑04‑02 to publish the Higher Education (Quality Assurance Accreditation) Bill in the Government Gazette and to present in the Parliament but could not be presented to the Parliament for approval at that occasion. After examining some of the amendments proposed by the Attorney General to move at the Committee Stage of the said Bill and the observations and proposals submitted by various parties subsequently, it has been identified that it is appropriate to further amend the Higher Education (Quality Assurance Accreditation) Bill drafted by the Legal Draftsman incorporating the new provisions. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Education to instruct the Legal Draftsman to draft a new Bill, was approved by the Cabinet.
