Establishment of the Road Maintenance Fund

- The Hon. President presenting the budget for the year 2023 proposed to establish a fund for road maintenance and he further proposed to allocate an initial provision of Rs.100 million for the purpose. The responsibility of formulating a suitable mechanism to establish and maintain the fund has been vested with the Ministry of Transport and Highways. Accordingly, taking into account a proposal made by the Minister of Transport and Highways, Cabinet granted its approval for the establishment of the proposed Fund by an Act of Parliament.
