Providing facilities to pursue Degree Programmes in Non-State Higher Education Institutes under the Interest-Free Student Loan Scheme

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted at its meeting held on 2017‑04‑04 to implement a project for the provision of interest free loans for the students who do not meet the cut‑off marks to enter into State Universities, to pursue Degree Courses in accredited Non‑State Degree awarding institutes. At present, five (05) batches of students have been benefited under the said scheme and the qualified students to the 06th batch have been identified. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Education to further continue that Interest‑Free Student Loan Scheme as per the procedure so far followed and to facilitate for 5000 students as the 7th batch of students under the said programme, was approved by the Cabinet.
