Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2023-03-27

Upgrading the Siddha Medicine Units of the University of Jaffna and the Trincomalee Campus of the Eastern University, Sri Lanka

- Having discussed at the Cabinet Meeting held on 2023‑02‑06 on the upgrading of the existing Siddha Medicine Units of the University of Jaffna and the Trincomalee Campus of the Eastern University, Sri Lanka as faculties, it had been decided to obtain a Report from the University Grants Commission on whether there are sufficient academic and staff facilities for the purpose. Accordingly, it has been confirmed by the University Grants Commission that there are sufficient human and physical resources to transform the said Siddha Medical Units into Faculties. Taking into account the facts presented by the Minister of Education, the approval of the Cabinet was granted to take the necessary action to upgrade the relevant Siddha Medicine units as faculties in those universities.
