Pilot Project for the installation of Floating Solar power projects on the surface of Chandrika Wewa and Kiri Ibban Wewa in Rathnapura District

- Under the Framework Agreement on Grant Aid signed between the Republic of Korea and Sri Lanka in 2009, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of Korea has agreed to provide a grant of 6.83 billion Korean Won in order to implement a pilot project for the installation of Floating Solar power panels of 1 MW capacity on Chandrika Wewa in Rathnapura District and Kiri Ibban Wewa in Monaragala District. The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology functions as the executing agency for this project on behalf of the Republic of Korea. Accordingly, as agreed, the proposal made by the Minister of Power and Energy to sign the Record of Discussion among the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, the Ministry of Power and Energy and the Department of External Resources in order to commence and execute this pilot project, was approved by the Cabinet.
