Amending the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Act, No.38 of 2009

- The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Act, No.38 of 2009 has been enacted aiming to establish an institute on national occupational safety and health for the purpose of formulating a national policy to frame standards for occupational safety and health and to create an occupational safety environment that ensures the safety of both the employers and employees. It has been identified that this Act should be amended so as to suit to the timely requirements. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment to instruct the Legal Draftsman to draft legislation to amend the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Act, was approved by the Cabinet.
