National Honours (2023) - Conferring the Sri Lankabhimanya Award to Hon. Deshabandu Karu Jayasuriya

- It has been a tradition since 1986 to confer a once-in-a-lifetime national award to Sri lankan citizens and non-Sri lankans who have rendered exceptionally outstanding and distinguished service to the nation in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the “Sri Lankabhimanya” Award is the highest award conferred in this country. As such, the Cabinet concurred with the action taken by the Hon. President to confer the “Sri Lankabhimanya” award to Deshabandu Karu Jayasuriya on 3rd February 2023 in recognition of the service rendered by him.
