Establishment of an Energy Storage System in Hambantota district to store electricity to ensure uninterrupted power supply in case of emergency and in the peak time

- Under the Framework Agreement on Grant Aid signed between the Republic of Korea and the Government of Sri Lanka, Republic of Korea has agreed to provide 14.3 billion Korean won (approximately US$ 11.9 million) grant to establish 5MW capacity and 8 MWh Energy Storage System in Hambantota Grid Substation. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Power and Energy to sign the Record of Discussion between respective parties to commence and implement the said project, was approved by the Cabinet.
