Introducing an Act for the administration and discharge of functions of the Office for the National Unity and Reconciliation

- The Office for National Unity & Reconciliation (ONUR) has been established with a view to providing each person with equal opportunities in the economic, social, cultural, and political sectors, safeguarding the identity, creating a society where diversity will be respected and celebrated and building a society in which all communities will co-exit in harmony and unity. In considering the powers vested with the said office, it has been identified that it would be appropriate to widen its operational activities as well as to establish the said office as a permanent office through an Act. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms to instruct the Legal Draftsman to draft a Bill for the same, was approved by the Cabinet.
