Entering into a Host Country Agreement between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Global Green Growth Institute

- The Global Green Growth Institute has been established in the year 2012 as an inter-governmental organization by the agreement of the stakeholder parties at the United Nations Rio +20 summit. The objectives of establishing the said Institute are to promote the green growth strategies of the developing countries, formulation of green growth plans with the participation of stakeholders and provide relevant parties with necessary support. The said institute functions under the major themes such as renewable energy, green cities and sustainable landscapes. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Environment to sign the relevant agreement, was approved by the Cabinet.
