Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Centre for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (CAOS), affiliated to the Indian Institute of Science, India and the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA)

- A proposal has been made to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between the Centre for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, affiliated to the Indian Institute of Science, India and the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency for mutually agreed functions such as research exchange programmes, capacity building of Sri Lankan Scientists in predicting ocean-related disasters and providing training opportunities for forecasting fishing zones. Clearance of the Attorney General and the concurrence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been received for the draft Memorandum of Understanding prepared for the purpose. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Fisheries to sign the proposed Memorandum of Understanding, was approved by the Cabinet.
