- The Hon. President apprised the Cabinet that the following action is expected to be taken with a view to achieving the progress of economic, social, cultural and political sectors in Sri Lanka within the next 25 years.

(i) Establishment of the following Institutions:

* Institute of History
* Institute of Economics and Trade
* Institute for Women and Gender
* University of Government and Public Policy
* University of Agro Technology
* Climate Change University
* Sports University

(ii) Introducing new legislation for the following:

* National Commission on Women's Act
* Gender Equality Act
* Women's Empowerment Act
* Child Care Act
* Climate Change Act
* Social Justice Commission Act
* Reforestation and Tree Cover Act
* Living Entity Act

Sinharaja
Sripada Adaviya /Peak Wilderness
Horton Plains
Knuckles
Adam's Bridge

* Law for Ocean Resources Exploration and Management (within the Exclusive Economic Zone/ (EEZ)
* Muthurajawela (Preservation) Act
* Protection of Persons with Special Needs Act

(iii) Implementation of the following New Projects

* 75 Urban Forests
* 1996 Houses in Colombo for Low Income Families
* National Youth Platform Projects and Programmes
