Establishment of Export Oriented Petroleum Refinery and Associated Product Processing Centre in Hambantota area

- It has been identified that there is a high potential for establishing an export oriented petroleum refinery and associated product processing center in Hambantota area. Various parties and local and foreign investors are interested in utilizing the said investment opportunity. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Power and Energy to issue calling for Expression of Interest to select a suitable investor to establish a Petroleum Processing Centre and obtain detailed proposals from those investors who fulfill the basic qualifications, was approved by the Cabinet.
