Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2022-11-28
Strengthening Social Cohesion and Peace in Sri Lanka Project (SCOPE) and Green Policy Dialogue Facility Project (GPDF), proposed to be financed under the European Union Grant Assistance
- It has been agreed to provide funds under the Multi-Annual Indicative Programme of the European Union to Sri Lanka for the period from 2021 to 2027 with a view to supporting the 'Green Recovery for Sri Lanka' and 'An Inclusive Peaceful Society'. Accordingly, an indicative grant of Euro 60 million has been allocated for the period of 2021 - 2024 for relevant sectors and support measures. Under that, the European Union has expressed its agreement to provide a grant of Euro 16 million to implement the "Strengthening Social Cohesion and Peace in Sri Lanka (SCOPE) Project" and "Green Policy Dialogue Facility(GPDF) Project". Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies to enter into grant agreements with the European Union in order to obtain said grants, was approved by the Cabinet.
