Introducing a new Act instead of the Police Ordinance No.16 of 1865

- The Police Ordinance No.16 of 1865 presently in force has been already amended 37 times and approval of the Cabinet has been granted at its meeting held on 2014‑11­19 to amend the said Ordinance again. However, depending on the new social trends, the need has been identified to introduce a new Act for the purpose. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Public Security to take necessary action to introduce a new Act instead of the Police Ordinance No.16 of 1865, was approved by the Cabinet.
