Amendment to the Licensing of Shipping Agent Act No.10 of 1972

- The Container Operators' Regulations have been issued in the year 2005 as per the provisions of section 3 and 10 of the Licensing of Shipping Agent Act No. 10 of 1972. The Court has decided that the Regulation 10 of the said Act should be amended and the approval has been granted by the Cabinet decision dated 2022 07 04 to introduce necessary amendments to the Licensing of Shipping Agent Act No. 10 of 1972 by incorporating provisions related thereto. The clearance of the Attorney General has been received to the draft Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman accordingly. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation to publish the said Bill in the Government Gazette and submit the same thereafter to Parliament, was approved by the Cabinet.
