School Meal Programme

- The Government implements the School Meal Programme targeting 1.08 million students of 7,926 schools at an annual cost of Rs. 4 billion. The Government anticipates to implement Programmes under the Poverty Alleviation Policy expeditiously, aiming to achieve the objective “No-one-leaving-behind-with-no-food”. Accordingly, the Cabinet approved the proposal made by Hon. President to further expand the existing school meal programme based on district level poverty and nutritional data while securing funds through foreign donations and take appropriate action to provide a fully nutritious meal for another one million of school children.
