Procurement for selecting Insurance Companies to provide insurance entitlements for Sri Lankan Migrant Workers

- The Cabinet at its meeting held on 2021‑05‑17 has granted approval to invite the International Competitive Bids to provide insurance coverage for the Sri Lankan Migrant Workers. The Government's funds would not be incurred for the proposed insurance coverage and those insurance coverage should be provided by the employer who provides job opportunities to the Sri lankan Migrant Workers, through an insurance company recommended by the Government of Sri Lanka. Accordingly, The Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee has recommended 06 insurance companies out of the 09 companies which have submitted proposals. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment to authorize the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment to enter into formal Agreements with the said insurance companies, was approved by the Cabinet.
