Importation of Glyphosate for Agriculture Purposes

- A severe impact has caused to all forms of agricultural activities due to the policy decision taken by the Government to ban / restrict the importation of Glyphosate whereby a decrease of the agricultural production and the increase of market price of essential commodities have occurred. Taking into account the said situation, it has been recommended that it would be appropriate to provide the opportunity to use Glyphosate for all agricultural activities as per the requirement so as to carry out the agricultural activities in the Maha Season 2022/23 more productively. Accordingly, the proposal made by the President to take necessary action to import the required quantity of Glyphosate for agricultural purposes for a period of six months, was approved by the Cabinet.
