Amendment to the National Transport Commission Act No. 37 of 1991

- The approval of the Cabinet of Ministers has been granted previously to amend the National Transport Commission Act No. 37 of 1991 and accordingly an amended draft Bill is being prepared by the Legal Draftsman. It has been identified that it would be appropriate to further amend the said Act by incorporating also the provisions for issuing policies, regulatory regulations and guidelines for public passenger transportation services such as three-wheelers, school vans/buses and office transportation services which are growing at present, to the National Transport Commission Act No. 37 of 1991. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Transport and Highways to incorporate the said provisions to the draft Bill being prepared by the Legal Draftsman, was approved by the Cabinet.
