Project for Strengthening Socioeconomic Resilience of Communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in the Central and Uva provinces
- A project funded by the Korean International Cooperation Agency has been scheduled to be implemented for Strengthening Socioeconomic Resilience of plantation communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in Nuwara Eliya district of the Central province and Badulla district of the Uva province. This project which is expected to carry out under 03 main components such as, Hygiene, Health and Agriculture for a period of 04 years from 2022 to 2025, will directly benefit about 72,400 people in 05 divisional secretariat divisions of the Nuwara Eliya district and about 19,350 people in 06 divisional secretariat divisions of the Badulla district. The United Nations Human Settlements Programme on behalf of the Government will implement this project with the US$ 06 million grant provided by the Korean International Cooperation Agency and all the coordination activities thereof will be assigned to the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government to sign a Tri-party Record of Discussion among the Korean International Cooperation Agency, Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government and the Department of External Resources, in order to implement the proposed project, was approved by the Cabinet.
