Submission of Third National Communication Report of Climate Change in Sri Lanka to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
- Sri Lanka as a stakeholder party of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change should submit informative reports related to climate change in timely manner. Accordingly, its first and second communication reports have been submitted in the years 2000 and 2012 respectively. Such communication report should contain information such as climate, economic and social circumstances, national greenhouse gas inventory, mitigation options of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, climate change vulnerability and adaptation measures, education, training and capacity building, technology transfer, research and systematic observations etc. Accordingly, the Ministry of Environment has prepared the Third National Communication Report 2018-2021, obtaining the views of the expert committees on climate change and inter-agency coordinating committees. The proposal made by the Minister of Environment to submit the said report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, was approved by the Cabinet.
