Awarding contracts relating to the essential civil works and works related to signal works of the Department of Sri Lanka Railways directly to the State Development and Construction Corporation

- The shortage of labour force essential for the activities of civil construction works and works relating to signal systems of the Department of Sri Lanka Railways has created many issues in the proper maintenance of railway service. As a solution to that, the proposal made by the Minister of Transport and Highways to award contracts not exceeding Rs 25 million to the State Development and Construction Corporation comprising of a work force of more than 600 members with good experience in such construction, following the direct procurement process, was approved by the Cabinet.
