Drafting a Bill to establish the Chartered Institute of Media Professionals - Sri Lanka - Sri lanka

- The Cabinet at its meeting held on 2021‑10‑05 has granted approval to establish the “Sri Lanka Chartered Institute of Journalists” with a view to enhancing the professionalism of the journalists engaged in the field of mass media. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Mass Media to prepare a Bill by the Department of Legal Draftsman based on the draft prepared by the Steering Committee appointed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media pertaining to the establishment of the said institute and to revise the name of the proposed institution as “ Chartered Institute of Media Professionals - Sri Lanka” in place of “Sri Lanka Chartered Institute of Journalists”, was approved by the Cabinet.
