Combined Issuance of stamps by the post authorities of Sri Lanka and India for the commemoration of the 75th Independence Day of India

- It has been proposed to issue 2 commemoration stamps each by the Department of Posts in Sri Lanka and the Department of Posts of India depicting “Parliaments” of both countries based on the theme of “Democracy” in parallel with the commemoration of 75th Independence Day of India falling on 15th August 2022. Further, it is anticipated to exchange each of 3000 stamps, 5000 memorial cards and 2000 first day covers out of stamps issued by both countries. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Mass Media to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between Departments of Posts between two countries for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
