Amendment to the Motor Traffic Act to make provisions for the registration of electric motor tricycles

- Various parties have requested to provide opportunities to use electric motor tricycles in Sri Lanka to popularize electric vehicles without the use of fossil fuel. Nevertheless, the Motor Traffic Act has to be amended, since no provisions are available in the said Act for the same. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Transport and Highways to take necessary action to amend the Motor Traffic Act incorporating the relevant provisions so as to register the electric motor tricycles, was approved by the Cabinet.
