Securing provisions for the next Tranches of iROAD 1 and iROAD 2 projects implemented under the Asian Development Bank Financed Integrated Road Investment Programme

- A total of 140 civil work contracts have been awarded for improving and maintaining around 6250 km rural roads and 750 km national roads under the iROAD 1 and iROAD 2 projects implemented under the Asian Development Bank Financed Integrated Road Investment Programme. Around 4800 km of rural roads and 300 km of national roads have been completed at present. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Transport and Highways to conduct negotiations with the Asian Development Bank pertaining to obtaining US$ 243 for the stage 5 of the iROAD 1 programme and US$ 200 for the stage 4 of the iROAD 2 programme and take future action enabling to implement the activities of the said projects without any hindrance, was approved by the Cabinet.
