Granting Tariff Concessions on the importation of necessary accessories for local textile production

- Despite the Covid-19 pandemic situation, Textile Industry has become one of the leading foreign exchange earning sectors in Sri Lanka. However, due to the rise in the price of raw materials and the adverse economic condition existing in the country, local garment manufacturers have to face many challenges in importing accessories required for garment production, which are not produced locally. As a remedy, the proposal made by the Minister of Industries to provide tariff concessions for accessories/items which are not locally produced, under 19 HS code numbers, was approved by the Cabinet approved.
