Amendment to the Civil Procedure Code (Chapter 101) (Revoking Chapter LXVI)

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted at its meeting held on 2021‑09‑27 to revoke Chapter LXVI of the Civil Procedure Code containing procedural provisions on Small Claims Courts, taking into account the drafting of a separate law introducing a special procedure for Small Claims Courts and the amendments added to the Judicature Act, No.2 of 1978 for the establishment of Small Claims Courts. Accordingly, clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the Bill drafted by the Legal Draftsman. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms, to publish the said Bill in the Government Gazette and thereafter present the same in Parliament, for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
