Amending the Children and Young Persons Ordinance

- A person under the age of 18 has been defined as a child by the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Accordingly, approval of the Cabinet has been granted at its meeting held on 2020‑09‑16 to amend the Children and Young Persons Ordinance, incorporating relevant provisions while adhering to the said convention. The clearance of the Attorney General has been received for the Bill drafted by the Legal Draftsman as per the said decision. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms, to publish the said Bill in the Government Gazette and thereafter present the same in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
