Resumption of International Operations of Jaffna International Airport

- Even though, the international operations of the Jaffna International Airport were commenced on 2019‑11‑11 after certifying the initial international regulatory requirements, its operations have been temporarily suspended from 2020‑03‑15 due to Covid-19 pandemic situation. Internationally and locally established airlines have requested at present to operate charter flights and scheduled flights to South Indian destinations from the Jaffna International Airport. Accordingly, Cabinet decided to grant its concurrence for the measures taken by the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation to resume the international operations of the Jaffna International Airport from 2022‑07‑01.
