22nd Amendment to the Constitution

- Requests have been made to reintroduce the constructive factors of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in view of the sensational situation arisen in the country due to the powers vested with the Executive Presidential system by the 20th Amendment to the Constitution. Under this backdrop, taking into consideration the existing crisis situation the country is faced with, it has been identified that the Constitution has to be amended by vesting a certain power in the Cabinet of Ministers which is collectively responsible to Parliament and the Public and the Constitutional Council thereby creating a certain balance of power on the Executive President and the Parliament. Accordingly, the preliminary draft submitted by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms, was approved by the Cabinet.
