Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the Volunteer Cooperation Programme 2020 - 2027 with the World University Service of Canada

- The World University Service of Canada implements a Volunteer Cooperation Programme to create opportunities for education, employment and empowerment for underprivileged youth and women worldwide. The said Programme has been implemented in Sri lanka for about 30 years and under an MoU signed between two parties, Programme has been implemented under the same during the period from the year 2015 to 2020 as well. The said Programme has not been implemented in Sri Lanka within last two years due to the travel restrictions imposed pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic and it has been proposed to sign an MoU to re-implement the said Programme. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to implement the relevant Programme through a Grant of CAD 2.76 million under 10 Government and Non-Government Organizations, was approved by the Cabinet.
