Submission of a Supplementary Estimate to Parliament

- At the beginning of the year 2022, the Government introduced a relief package for Samurdhi beneficiaries, Estate community, Pensioners and Public Servants to minimize as far as possible, the hardships faced by the people due to the adverse economic condition in the country. It has been decided to submit a Supplementary Estimate to Parliament to secure funds required to incur the expenditure for the same and to continue the essential public services without hindrance. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization & National Policies to submit a Supplementary Estimate to Parliament to secure an allocation of Rs 695 billion under the “ Supplementary Support Services and Contingent Liabilities Project of the Department of National Budget, was approved by the Cabinet.
