Global Fund – Framework Agreement for the period 2022-2024

- The “Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria” has been established in the year 2002 in order to combat against 3 infectious diseases namely AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Since 2003, the said Global Fund has entered into 24 agreements for securing an amount of US $ 114 million to Sri Lanka. Of the said, the Ministry of Health has signed 15 Agreements where as other Agreements have been signed by the Sri Lanka Jathika Sarvodaya Sangamaya, the Tropical and environmental Diseases and Health Associates and the Sri Lanka Family Planning Association. The Ministry of Health has entered into Agreements to obtain grants amounting to US $ 88.3 million. Of such grant, around US $ 71 million has already been disbursed by 2021‑10‑31. The Global Fund has extended its willingness to make an another grant of US$ 9.4 million for the period from 2022-2024. Accordingly, the Minister of Health informed the Cabinet on the measures already taken with regard to the entering into the Agreements to secure that grant and the Cabinet granted its concurrence for the same.
