Report of the Committee of Experts appointed to draft a new Constitution

- The Cabinet at its meeting held on 2020 09 09 has decided to appoint a Committee chaired by Mr. Romesh De Silva, President's Counsel, comprising of legal experts to draft a new Constitution. Accordingly, preliminary Report of the said Committee has been handed over to H.E the President on 2022 04 25. As such, the Cabinet has decided to appoint a Cabinet Sub-Committee comprising of the following Ministers to study the matters containing in the said Report and submit appropriate recommendations to the Cabinet.

Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government

* Hon. Douglas Devananda
Minister of Fisheries

Minister of Education and Minister of Plantation

* Hon. Ali Sabry
Minister of Finance and Minister of Justice
