Drafting the Twenty First Amendment to the Constitution based on the Nineteenth and Twentieth Amendments to the Constitution
- Several parties representing different strata of politics, profession and society have emphasized that it would be appropriate to introduce proper amendments to the Constitution in view of establishing political, economic and social stability to find solutions for the current economic crisis that has emerged within the prevailing atmosphere in the country. The Cabinet, having taken into consideration this situation, reached the following decisions as per a proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister:

* to appoint a Cabinet Sub‑Committee to provide necessary guidance to the Legal Draftsman to prepare a preliminary draft Bill expeditiously, based on the constructive matters in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Amendments to the Constitution to introduce the Twenty First Amendment, conferring more powers to Parliament while further strengthening democracy.

* to authorize the Hon. Prime Minister to move a resolution in Parliament to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee to discuss the Preliminary draft Bill to be prepared as above and the proposals on Amendments to the Constitution that have already been submitted to Parliament and prepare a draft on a reached consensus.
