Establishment of a mechanism to appraise financial proposals related to foreign exchange and energy supply presented by various parties

- Various friendly countries, international suppliers and local private sector offer various types of bilateral concessional loans, proposals pertaining to the energy supply and the energy sectors as remedies for the foreign exchange crisis prevailing in the country. Although, it was observed that certain proposals so submitted are effective to overcome the foreign exchange crisis experienced by country at present, there is no room in the existing procedures in order to approach further action on such proposals. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister to appoint a Committee chaired by the Secretary to the Prime Minister and with participation of four (04) Ministry Secretaries to analyze those proposals considering the timely importance of the same and submit recommendations on action be taken, was approved by the Cabinet.
