Providing relief to the house owners affected by the water leakage of the Uma Oya Multi-purpose Development Project and alternative lands for the acquired lands

- All construction activities of the Uma Oya Multi‑purpose Development Project are nearing completion and it has also been planned to finalize the provision of relief to the parties affected due to the project within the next six (06) months period. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Irrigation to award free grants under the State Lands Ordinance for the alternative blocks of land provided to the house owners who were affected by the water leakage occurred due to the excavation of the tunnel of this Multi‑purpose Development Project, pay compensation expeditiously for the houses which have been recommended for removal by the National Building and Research Organization (NBRO) owing to the landslide risk and are entitled to be paid with the full compensation and to provide the opportunity for cultivation under specific conditions, on the original residential lands of the house owners to be resettled, was approved by the Cabinet.
