Strengthening of Innovation Systems

- With the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme, the “Citra” Institute was established in 2018 as the first Social Innovation Research Institute in South Asia. The Citra Innovation Research Institute has played a significant role in the past collaborating with the Government, Non-Government and Private partners. Accordingly, based on the experiences gained in the past, it has been planned to implement the activities of the second phase of the Citra Social Innovation Research Institute in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister, to continue Citra Social Innovation Research Institute as a project supported by the United Nations Development Programme under the direct guidance and coordination of the Prime Minister's Office, as in other countries of the world and to establish a project Management Board functioning under the guidance of the Secretary to the Prime Minister and the Permanent Representative to the United Nations Development Programme in Sri Lanka, was approved by the Cabinet.
